Chipperfield is as rich in history as in its charm. With a name dating back to at least 1316, it is a village with an extensive history. Its streets are made up of Georgian and Victorian era cottages that, combined with its expansive greens and commons, make it a hidden gem in the Hertfordshire countryside.
Home to several historical pubs, a cricket club and numerous small business, including the lovely Blackwell’s café and the local Off-licence, the village provides tranquil living for its residents who can enjoy the close knit community as well as the expansive common and numerous walking trails that intersect Chipperfield.
*DID YOU KNOW* Chipperfield Common contains eight veteran Spanish sweet chestnut trees, estimated to date back to the 1600s and believed to be descended from specimens brought from Spain in the Middle Ages. Tradition has it they were planted for Isabel of Castile, who was the first Duchess of York and lived in the nearby Royal Palace of Kings Langley.
