On Friday 17th December, Gagan Mohindra MP visited the Tropical Marine Centre (TMC) in Chorleywood to discuss sustainability and the importance of the marine aquatics industry in this effort.
The TMC is Europe’s leading supplier of quality marine fish and invertebrates to the ornamental trade since 1970. The TMC is also the UK’s leading manufacturer and distributor of commercial filtration equipment and aquatic products.
Gagan took the opportunity to meet the TMC’s Research & Development team in Biosystems, their Fish house, and their production team which produces products for the marine and pond market.
Gagan was also happy to hear of the TMC’s efforts in involving the local community and future generations in the industry. The TMC highlighted their local initiatives which are creating opportunities for student placements in various departments across the centre.
Following the visit Gagan noted that “it was a pleasure to meet the team at the Tropical Marine Centre. I was happy to hear about their industry-leading effort to ensure sustainable business practices and their hard work to involve the local community. I am also glad that the CEO, Brian Schaff, and the Department for International Trade have worked together to reduce the duty tariff on marine ornamental fish from 6% to 0%. ”
