Gagan said it was brilliant to be in the Chamber this afternoon for the Chancellor’s Spring Budget announcement.
The Chancellor confirmed what our Government have already achieved while managing our economy - inflation has more than halved, mortgage rates are starting to fall, spending is under control, and debt is set to fall.
Since 2019 we have faced a global pandemic and seen Putin illegally invade Ukraine, and have been dealing with the worldwide consequences of both. Despite these significant challenges, our Government has paved the road to recovery, and by sticking to our plan, we will continue to deliver a world-leading economy.
The Chancellor made many excellent announcements, which will put money back into your pocket and ensure our public services are comprehensively funded.
These measures include:
Cutting your National Insurance from 10% to 8%, saving people £900 on average salaries in 2024
Cutting Capital Gains Tax on property from 28% to 24%
An extensive £3.4 billion to fully fund the new NHS productivity plan
Gagan will continue to work with our Government to deliver on the Prime Minister's priorities for our economy, cut taxes further and properly fund our public services for everyone in South West Hertfordshire.
