Today is World Book Day!
Gagan wants children in our area to get a good start in life, and reading for fun is one of the biggest indicators of a child’s future success. Gagan was diagnosed with dyslexia after he had left school, but he continues to appreciate the joy and value of reading. That is why he is pleased to be celebrating World Book Day.
On World Book Day each child will receive a book token to buy their own book, helping to combat the fact that 1,000,000 children in the UK don’t have a book of their own. When Gagan attended the World Book Day event in Parliament this week he was delighted to hear that in a recent survey, 42.6% of primary children said they read more books as a result of World Book Day!
Despite being diagnosed with Dyslexia in my 20s, Gagan loves reading and has read over 1000 books of all varieties. Gagan hope that his story can inspire children, Dyslexia is not a barrier to the joys that reading offers.
If you would like to purchase a book today at one of the excellent book stores in South West Hertfordshire, Gagan can recommend visiting The Berkhamsted Bookshop, Chorleywood Bookshop, Our Bookshop in Tring among others. As well as buying books, Gagan would also encourage both children and adults to visit their excellent local Hertfordshire County Council library to pick up a great book in South West Hertfordshire. Happy Reading!
