On Saturday Gagan had the pleasure of visiting New Road Pharmacy in Croxley Green to discuss the important new Pharmacy First Scheme. Gagan met with superintendent pharmacist Dipa from New Road Pharmacy as well as Linda from Community Pharmacy Hertfordshire to discuss the importance of this scheme and what it will mean for patients.
The scheme enables people to visit their local pharmacy for help with seven minor conditions which would previously have required a GP appointment. Almost all pharmacies will offer the new service, giving advice and, if needed, NHS medicines, to treat seven common health conditions – and all without needing to get a GP appointment. These health conditions are sore throats, earache in children, sinusitis, infected insect bites, impetigo, shingles, and urinary tract infections in women. Gagan is pleased to support this inventive initiative which will help increase capacity at GP surgeries enabling constituents to see a doctor sooner.
Gagan was delighted to speak to Dipa at New Road Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy working in the heart of the community, to learn more about how they will support residents in Croxley under the new Pharmacy First Scheme. Local pharmacist Dipa Pattni of New Road Pharmacy said:
“My team and I are delighted to be able to offer more support than ever before to the local community. People can get help quickly and easily, GP surgery queues will be reduced, and I can put my clinical skills to good use. It is a win all round.”
Gagan thanks Dipa, the team at New Road Pharmacy, and all the pharmacies in South West Hertfordshire who play a vital role in delivering primary care in their communities and looks forward to visiting more great pharmacies such as this in the future to understand how the Pharmacy First Scheme is helping patients.
