Earlier today Gagan Mohindra met with Colonel Leonard Thacker (Retd.), a 100-year-old constituent and Army veteran. Gagan was joined by Cllr. Reena Ranger, who is both a Hertfordshire County Councillor and a Three Rivers District Councillor.
Col. Thacker turned 100 in March of this year. His expansive military career included multiple postings in the Far East, as well as serving on the General Staff. During today’s visit Col. Thacker discussed his military career in some detail. Gagan was particularly interested to hear about the perspective of a constituent who had experienced such a large degree of change over the course of his life.
The visit was particularly poignant in that it occurred in the run-up to Remembrance Day. Col. Thacker, a seasoned war veteran and former infantry commander, discussed with Gagan the meaningfulness of the British Army’s regimental system, as well as matters of Veteran’s Affairs. Gagan said: “It is always an honour to meet a veteran, but to meet one that has reached 100 years old and is a constituent both humbles me and makes me utterly grateful.”
Gagan will be attending a number of Remembrance events over the coming weeks. If you wish to keep up with him please follow him on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
