It was a pleasure to visit Parmiter’s School today to catch up with the Headteacher and senior leaders to discuss the incredible work they do for their students and the wider community.
Schools like Parmiter’s, an outstanding academy, face increasing pressures, not only from rising costs but also from Labour’s proposed changes to academies, which threaten to undermine the independence and flexibility that have allowed schools like this to thrive.
Labour’s plans risk disrupting this by rolling back key freedoms and imposing a one-size-fits-all model that could harm both students and staff.
We also discussed the importance of ensuring support for SEND provision and the school’s impressive overall results.
I’ll continue to advocate for schools across South West Hertfordshire, ensuring their voices are heard, their autonomy is protected, and their ability to deliver for our young people remains strong.
