Gagan Mohindra was invited by Thames Water to visit their Sewage Treatment Plant in Chesham to learn more on how Thames Water are working to ensure water in South West Hertfordshire and the River Chess in particular remains at a high quality.
From the visit, Gagan saw how upgrades to the site have allowed for up to 40% more water to be treated in recent months as well as new pipes and a distribution chamber to streamline the sewage treatment process.
Gagan commented: "I know the issue of sewage and water quality in general is an emotive issue for many of my constituents and rightfully so. I have published a letter to residents outlining how I am working to tackle illegal sewage discharges both here in South West Hertfordshire and nationally, and I was pleased to have had the opportunity to raise this again with Thames Water officials today. I look forward to continue to work with Thames Water in the coming months to ensure my constituents concerns are addressed and our stunning waterways are protected."
