Following a visit to a bridging hotel in South West Hertfordshire which is accommodating refugee families that have arrived here in the UK. This includes the Women’s Afghan Cycling Team, who have great hopes for their future now they have arrived in the UK. Gagan was inspired to hear of their incredible bravery and experiences, and their eagerness to settle into UK life.
Gagan subsequently raised the matter of highly skilled refugees arriving in the UK, and their movement into higher skilled jobs in sectors that need their numbers in Prime Ministers' Questions on the 9th of November. The Prime Minister responded that he and the Government would continue to work to get highly-skilled refugees into jobs that suited their abilities.
Gagan was pleased to hear that action will be taken to support all in the constituency, including new arrivals.
