Gagan has been a long- standing supporter of local farming and green areas in his constituency. Following a farmer round table that he hosted in June in conjunction with the National Farmers Union, Gagan became aware of issues regarding the VAT threshold for those who are self-employed and run their own business, as many farmers do.
Gagan then raised these issues with HM Treasury during a session of Oral Parliamentary Questions. He was reassured of the Government’s commitment to helping farmers. He was glad of the opportunity to follow up on this with a meeting with Scott Mann. He discussed issues surrounding land management supply chain costs, and the importance of promoting farming.
Gagan looks forward to continuing to see the development of this industry in his constituency, and will continue to work to ensure that any issues are resolved.
