As of 20 April, over 486,000 business premises have received grants under the Small Business Grants Fund (SBGF) and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants Fund (RHLGF), totalling over £6bn. A full breakdown of grant funding allocated to and distributed by each local authority can be found online: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-grant-funding-local-authority-payments-to-small-and-medium-businesses
This funding is being provided to businesses who are ratepayers. To find out whether businesses are eligible, the criteria is also set out clearly online here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-business-support-grant-funding-guidance-for-businesses.
The two grant funding schemes are part of a wider package of government support for businesses in recognition of the disruption caused by Covid-19. Other measures to support businesses include access to business interruption loans. Measures to support individuals in self-employment have also been announced. The government continually reviews its support for the economy and to businesses through the Covid-19 response.
